Looking for a new GP in Christchurch (South side preferrably) that has an understanding of infant reflux and most importantly is understanding and supportive.

Hi
I’ll feature this on the frontpage of the website later.
I need to set up a private message system here, as we don’t allow health professional’s names to be posted on the forums. Hopefully this will be available soon.

Hi there,
We go to **name edited out by roslyn but pm’d to rachking**
She was great dealing with my daughters reflux aswell as my PND that went with it. My advise with GPs and reflux is to keep taking your baby back to the dr even if its twice a week till they listen and push for refurals.
Hope this helps :)

Hi again
I’ve managed to set up a private message system, although it isn’t as straight forward as other forums. Under your name at the top right of the page, you will see a link going to “View Message Box”. The link is http://www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz/private-messages/ From there you can send a message to whoever you choose by typing in the beginning of their username and selecting.

The GP we are under complies with the guide lines set for treatment of reflux, so if it is medication you are looking for Gaviscon is the most you will get. But i can not thank her enough for the support she gave me when I turned up for my daughter 12 week vaccinations and she could just see on my face that things weren’t good. She even sent me! off for bloods to check everything was ok with me. In short she worked with us until we had my daughters reflux and colic under control. I would go and see her every week until I was happy with the progress we had made.

Thank you everyone for the recommendations, I will let you know how I get on. We have just been back to the specialist and now on Motilium and Losec and staying on the FODMAP diet for another month or so before reviewing again. Bubs has just turned 1 and finally after changing meds is almost sleeping well (waking 4 or so times a night instead of 10-12) I feel like a different person now getting some sleep and can think clearly enough to make better decisions and not be fobbed off by anyone that says ‘just a fussy baby’ and every new Mum suffers from a lack of sleep!!!
